The Hollyburn Cross Country Ski Club depends on the dedicated volunteers to fulfill a wide variety of fun and exciting roles. If you like managing people and are very organized, this crucial Executive role qualifies for the $50 discount and early registration. Our club has over a hundred volunteers, so the scope is as big as you make it. The Executive meets about ten times a year. Contact us if you are interested.
Jackrabbit Program Coordinator*
The Jackrabbit Program Coordinator oversees all the Bunny and Jackrabbit session coordinators, program outline and coaches for those programs. This is an essential core role and qualifies for the $50 discount and early registration. Contact us if you are interested.

Facilities and Equipment Coordinator*
If you are handy and organized, the club needs you to liaise with the Executive and various program areas to make sure the wax hut and club equipment (skate skis, etc.) are maintained. This is an essential core role and qualifies for the $50 discount and early registration. Contact us if you are interested.

Session Coordinator* (4 weekend Jackrabbit sessions, 2 evening Jackrabbit sessions)
If you like some time to ski yourself while your kids are in their groups, each session needs a coordinator to set up or put away the canopy, bring out equipment, manage bibs, manage hot chocolate and the occasional hiccup. This is an essential core role and qualifies for the $50 discount and early registration. Contact us if you are interested.
Only the Sunday p.m. position is still available for the 2012/13 season.
Assistant Session Coordinator
Assisting the Session Coordinators gives you a chance to get involved to test the waters as a possible Session Coordinator for a future year.
Special Events Coordinator
The club has many special events to run. You could organize the volunteer appreciation evening, race banquets, the AGM or pre and post season events. If this kind of role interests you, then please contact the club.

If you are an experienced cross country skier who would like to take the coaching courses and pass on your skills and enthusiasm to kids for a few years, then this is the place for you. Coaches qualify for the $50 discount and early registration. Further details and commitments required are available on our website Coaches page. Please ensure that you are able to make the required commitments before registering for this position. Those not fulfilling their commitments will not be allowed to coach in subsequent seasons.
Use your previous training to continue as a coach. Additional training is available to raise your coaching level. Coaches qualify for the $50 discount and early registration. Further details and commitments required are available on our website Coaches page. Please ensure that you are able to make the required commitments before registering for this position. Those not fulfilling their commitments will not be allowed to coach in subsequent seasons.
If you are a cross-country skier that enjoys spending time with the kids, but not sure about full coaching responsibilities, this position offers the opportunity to step into a role that supports fully trained coaches. Coach/event assistants support coaches and session co-ordinators to ensure that sessions and coaching groups run smoothly. This may also include support of some of the local club events such as the Sprints Day, Mini Birke, Lantern Ski and P'ayak with group management. Participation in the Introduction to Community Coaching (ICC) and Preseason Coaches' Meeting is required for this position.
Policies and Procedures Reviewer
There are a number of important administrative roles the Club needs to address including documenting policies and procedures and ensuring that they are aligned with the constitution and bylaws. If you have a background in this area, please let us know.
If you are an experienced in information technology, the club needs an overhaul of the database management system to simplify registration and communications. A background working with Microsoft Access, Office and VB is necessary. Web programming experience is also useful. If this is an area where you have expertise, this new position qualifies you for early registration and the $50 discount. Contact us if you are interested.
This position is not available for the 2012/13 season.
If you would be interested in developing your officiating skills to a fairly high level (the club covers training costs), have good organizational skills and enjoy working with people then this is a role for you. We need somebody to manage officials and oversee the staging of successful events that the club is involved with organizing and chairing the Race Committee (see below). Contact us if you think this is for you.
Race Volunteers (Race Committee)
The club puts on several competitions a season and will be involved in some high-profile events in places like Whistler Olympic Park. Volunteers are needed at all levels, from those that wish to have some officiating training (costs covered by club) to fulfill roles like Race Secretary and Chief of Timing to those that have little or no officiating training whatsoever to assist with things like food preparation, course marshalling course or stadium setup. There’s nothing like being part of a team that has just put on a successful event! We expect volunteers for this position to commit to helping with at least two of the club's events. The individuals volunteering for these positions will assist the Coaching Coordinator with all coach development initiatives. The types of activities which require assistance include:
- make screening calls to all new coaches following registration to ensure that they have appropriate attitude and commitment
- Organize all training required for both new and returning Jackrabbit coaches (ICC, CC , LTT and TTT)
- Book facilities, equipment, shipment of materials to and from CCBC
- Organize Coaches’ Meetings
- Organize a series of coaching/technique refresher sessions throughout the season
- Pursue any additional skill level enhancement sessions as required for the benefit of the club coaches

Race Team Travel Coordinator

Menu planning and grocery shopping for team camps and race trips. Contact us if you are interested.
Race Team Bookkeeper
Manage finances for the race team in coordination with the club Treasurer. Contact us if you are interested.
Race Team Equipment and Wax Manager
Oversee the use and maintenance of team equipment, including roller skis. Keep track of the race team wax inventory and assist in making orders. Contact us if you are interested.
Race Team General Assistant
Take on tasks as requested by the Race Team Head Coach. Contact us if you are interested.
Race Team Wax Hut Cleanup Coordinator
