This past week, 13 athletes from Chelsea, Quebec made their way to Vancouver to participate in an Experiences Canada exchange with athletes from Hollyburn ski club (years 2010-2012)
A lot of preparation and team work went into preparing for our Quebecois guests, who arrived on January 1st and started off the trip with a polar bear plunge at Spanish Banks beach. A fun-filled itinerary saw the participants skiing at Hollyburn, hiking in Lynn Canyon, overnighting in a Hollyburn ridge cabin, and finishing off their trip with a gloriously sunny trip to Whistler Olympic Park and Lost Lake ski trails. Host families will be celebrating the end to a successful trip at a final send-off dinner.
Hollyburn athletes are looking forward to their trip to Chelsea, Quebec from February 5-12th.
To help cover our costs, a whole host of fundraising efforts have been undertaken by the participating athletes and their families. Krispy Kreme donuts and Sun Oka apples were sold, gifts were wrapped at MEC and skis were waxed for club members by our excellent wax technicians. More fundraisers are being planned! A nordic-themed film night is being planned soon. Watch for more information.
