The exchange was a huge success! Kids from Chelsea, the Sea to Sky Nordics, and Hollyburn Cross Country Ski Clubs enjoyed time together in both the Vancouver and Whistler areas from December 31st to January 8th. Cultural highlights included visits to the Vancouver Aquarium, the Audain Gallery, Granville Island, and a tour of the Lil’wat Cultural Center.

Hosting the whole group for two nights at the Whistler Athletes Center strengthened bonds among the teams. Special thanks to the Sea to Sky Nordics for the full-day biathlon session at the Callaghan range, which included shooting with live ammunition (all costs covered by the Sea to Sky Nordics). Also, special thanks to the Gitt family for hosting the Vancouver athletes and billets for a marshmallow roast at their Cypress cabin. The weather cooperated and we had rain-free ski days at Cypress and beautiful fresh snow in Callaghan and Whistler Village.

Vancouver/Whistler athletes will depart for Chelsea on February 8th, returning February 15th, where activities will range from an overnight stay at a Gatineau Park cabin to a mock trial at the Supreme Court of Canada. An amazing experience for our athletes! You can read more about the exchange in a Chelsea newspaper article.
